remember when?
Reunions, tours and pop-up classes await at Homecoming 2023.
The Case Alumni Association is welcoming alumni back to campus Oct. 12-15 for a Homecoming that invites graduates to “Remember when” as they stroll down memory lane.
Case Quad is sure to be dressed in its autumn finery in mid-October, and faculty are offering classes that will whisk alumni back to their student days. The pop-up classes Friday and Saturday of Homecoming weekend offer glimpses into the latest and most interesting lessons going on at the Case School of Engineering. Examples include:
Fun in the First-Year Engineering Lab
In this hands-on class—3 p.m. Friday and Saturday—alumni will explore the bright new Roger Susi First Year Engineering Experience Lab in the basement of Bingham, handle equipment, and experience some hands-on engineering lessons.

Amazing facets of civil engineering
A 3 p.m. Friday class and tour will introduce the array of labs in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, including Ohio’s only university-based Concrete Lab. This class segues into the department happy hour at 4 p.m.

Our macromolecular world
Long-chain molecules (think plastics, fibers, DNA, proteins and carbohydrates) are essential for life as well as daily living. At 10 a.m. Saturday, Professor Gary Wnek will lead a tour of macromolecules with several hands-on examples, plus address issues of plastic waste and sustainability and research efforts underway at Case.
Outside of the classroom, Homecoming traditions await—some with an added twist.
Dean Venkataraman “Ragu” Balakrishnan will again take questions at The Dean’s Chat–10 a.m. Friday–but this time in the newly finished community room of Sears think[box]. Afterwards, visitors are welcome to tour the acclaimed innovation center.

Later, the dean will welcome guests to the Dean’s Reception at 4:45 p.m. Friday in the lobby of Nord Hall. It’s a chance to enjoy light refreshments and reconnect with classmates before walking over to Strosacker Auditorium for the main event

At 6 p.m. Friday, the 138th Annual All Classes Celebration and Awards Presentation begins in Strosacker. University President Eric Kaler will deliver remarks and help honor eight distinguished alumni and friends of Case.

Tours, classes and other events resume Saturday, when the CAA hosts the All Classes Lunch—11:30 a.m. in the lobby of Tomlinson Hall. And don’t forget the Homecoming football game against the Westminster Titans—2 p.m. at DiSanto Field.
